About This Product
Most modern fuel formulations contain ethanol or other oxygenated compounds (such as E5 or E10 in Europe). The standard Kolor Kut Water Finding Paste is not suitable for these fuels. That is why Kolor Kut developed the Modified version, which is specifically formulated for ethanol and oxygenated fuels.
Water contamination in oxygenated fuels presents a particularly insidious risk. Because ethanol is hygroscopic, it actively absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. This means ethanol-blended fuels are more prone to water accumulation over time, especially in storage tanks that experience temperature cycling or condensation. Left undetected, water leads to phase separation, microbial growth, corrosion, and ultimately, engine misfires or component damage.
The Modified paste delivers the same proven color-change mechanism as the original. When applied to a dipstick, it changes color sharply at the exact water-to-fuel interface; however, its chemistry is adapted to remain stable and accurate in the presence of ethanol and other oxygenated compounds that would otherwise interfere with a standard paste reading.
If you operate with conventional mineral fuels, the standard Kolor Kut Water Finding Paste remains the appropriate choice. For any fuel containing ethanol or oxygenates, the Modified version is the correct and reliable option.
